A very special anniversary gift

My neighbor Jim asked me to create a pair of earrings for his wife Jeanne to celebrate their 10 year wedding anniversary. He wanted a pair of my custom photo transfer earrings, but also wanted to include a 10 of diamonds to symbolize their 10 years together and diamonds. I loved the idea! I thought it was so clever of Jim to think of the 10 of diamonds since the gift of a diamond is tradional for a 10 year anniversary gift. I was very excited to create a special piece of artwork for my friend Jeanne and turn the art into a pair of earrings.
This is the first layer of my collage; I selected pages from an old mystery novel because Jeanne is a writer. I picked red, white and blue for the colors because they were married on the 4th of July.
I had fun with the next few layers; adding paint, stencils, and paint pens.
When I was finished with the artwork, I scanned it into my computer and added a 10 of diamonds card image. Then I used a photo transfer process to adhere the artwork on to the earrings. Loved this project!
Jim and Jeanne were lucky enough to celebrate their 10 year anniversary in Hawaii! Jeanne loved her earrings and they had a great trip.
Next week I am finally getting back to designing new jewelry. I have tons of ideas floating around in my head. I'll be sure to share my new designs with you as soon as they are ready.
